United Way of Southwest Louisiana was proud to participate with its neighboring United Ways in the Greater Acadiana United Way Disaster Fund appeal. All donations earmarked for the flood benefited our Flood Relief and Recovery Fund to support short-term and long-term efforts.
We at United Way of Southwest Louisiana understand that recovery is a long-term endeavor. We will make every effort to raise funds to continue to support local needs in our service area to help community members most impacted.
United Way of Southwest Louisiana distributed the funds in the following ways:
100% of the money donated to United Way of Southwest Louisiana is going to victims of the recent floods across the region. United Way of Southwest Louisiana connects people and organizations with the passion, expertise and resources to get things done.
Charitable organizations in the region don't have all the resources they need to respond. As they step up, your local United Way will put your donation to work with these trusted and tested organizations who know what to do. This is the most efficient way to help your neighbors - work with front-line organizations who specialize in disaster response and those who will be here to help people get their homes back in working order.
Your donation is supporting work that's going on right now. It'll include clean-up efforts, home repairs, and other needs that are part of the long-term recovery from HARVEY.
Citizens in need of services should dial 2-1-1. This United Way partner agency is available 24/7 to provide information, referrals, training and crisis intervention to people, organizations and communities so they can help themselves and others.
LA 211 receives calls during natural and manmade disasters as part of the statewide 211 system, providing vital non-emergency information before, during and after the event.

Additionally, the U.S. Small Business Administrations allows small business, agricultural cooperatives and most private, nonprofit organizations of all sizes that have suffered disaster-related cash flow problems to register for up to $2 million loans.
