United Way of Southwest Louisiana’s Summer Impact Grant Process is Open

Applications For Nonprofits Serving Low & Moderate Income Students Open Until May 15

LAKE CHARLES, LA, April 24 – United Way of Southwest Louisiana's new Summer Impact Grant application is open. Organizations in Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron or Jeff Davis parishes providing summer programs to students 5 to 18 years of age may apply. The funding will be used to provide tuition assistance for children in low—to moderate-income households. The application deadline is 4 pm on May 15, 2024. The application and all information are online at unitedwayswla.org/summergrant.

United Way of Southwest Louisiana will offer a maximum award up to $5,000 to eligible organizations for tuition assistance. Applying agencies' summer programming should include focus areas such as arts, advocacy, dance, leadership, literacy and STEM. The goal of encouraging youth summer programs is to close Louisiana's educational achievement gap and improve health outcomes for low—to moderate-income students.

Applications must be submitted through the online form located at unitedwayswla.org/summergrant. Applying organizations must be registered and in good standing with the Louisiana Secretary of State. Faith-based organizations and others are invited to apply.

Organizations should use United Way of Southwest Louisiana's ALICE Report when deciding which students to serve. They are encouraged to prioritize households falling below the ALICE Threshold, which can be found online at unitedwayswla.org/ALICE.

The deadline to apply is May 15, 2024, at 4 pm.
