Lake Charles, LA— United Way Southwest Louisiana is now accepting applications for its 2026 Summer Impact Grant, an Initiative designed to expand access to high-quality summer enrichment programs for children across the five-parish region.

Applications will open April 13, 2026 at 9:00 AM and close May 13, 2026 at 4:00 PM.
Organizations located in Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jeff Davis parishes that provide summer programming for youth ages 5–18 are encouraged to apply. Funding supports tuition assistance, ensuring children from ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) and low-to-moderate income households can participate in meaningful summer experiences.
Building on the success of previous years, the Summer Impact Grant continues to play a critical role in addressing the summer learning gap—a time when many children lose access to structured education, meals, and enrichment opportunities. By investing in local programs, United Way Southwest Louisiana is helping ensure that every child has the chance to stay engaged, active, and inspired during the summer months.
“Summer should be a time of growth, discovery, and opportunity for every child—not just those who can afford it,” said Denise Durel, President and CEO of United Way Southwest Louisiana. “Through the Summer Impact Grant, we are removing barriers for working families and opening doors to experiences that shape confidence, creativity, and future success.”
Eligible programs may include, but are not limited to:
- STEM and academic enrichment
- Arts, music, and cultural programs
- Athletics and physical wellness
- Leadership and workforce readiness
- Literacy and educational support
Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to selected organizations to directly offset program costs for eligible families.
Organizations must apply through the online application at:

Applicants must be registered and in good standing with the Louisiana Secretary of State. Faith-based organizations are encouraged to apply.
United Way Southwest Louisiana strongly encourages applicants to prioritize youth from households below the ALICE Threshold, helping ensure resources reach families who are working hard but still struggling to make ends meet.
With continued investment in youth opportunity, United Way Southwest Louisiana remains committed to strengthening the region’s future by ensuring every child has access to the experiences they need to learn, grow, and thrive.
Application deadline: May 13, 2026 at 4:00 PM.
